It is the small details that will make a big difference

Our great services

If you’re experiencing pain or have an injury that may be related to lower limb function, a biomechanical assessment can be conducted to determine the origin and structures likely to be involved through a comprehensive evaluation of how your body functions.

In order to build an accurate picture relating to your issue, your feet, legs and hips are assessed for alignment, range of motion, asymmetry and function.  As well as the muscles, bones, ligaments and joints of the lower limbs.

Depending on the outcomes, a tailored management plan is developed that may include:

  • Footwear advice
  • Injury prevention/rehabilitation
  • Strengthening exercises and/or stretches
  • Padding and/or strapping
  • If deemed clinically necessary, a referral may be provided for imaging eg. x-ray, ultrasound
  • Orthoses. Your Podiatrist can advise the best course of action. This may involve customised orthoses. The outcomes of the biomechanical assessment will determine the appropriate orthotic device.

Clinically, we often see:

  • Plantar heel pain, including Plantar fasciopathy (fasciitis)
  • Soft tissue injuries
  • Sporting injuries
  • Traumatic events, including ankle sprains, stubbed toes
  • Pain associated with bunions
  • Forefoot pain and associated pathologies including, Morton’s neuroma

Balance Foot Studio use foot orthoses, commonly called orthotics, in combination with strength/balance exercises and footwear advice, as part of a personalised approach. Your podiatrist may prescribe orthoses for your particular foot problem after a thorough examination, taking into account your biomechanics, footwear, occupational and lifestyle factors.

Orthoses may be used short or longer term in order to facilitate improved foot function, alignment and gait. They can also provide an effective long-term solution in the treatment and prevention of corns, calluses and ulceration by redistributing pressure.

Orthoses can also aid the recovery of acute and chronic foot conditions, such as tendinopathy or recurrent injuries.

There are many different types of orthoses. The orthoses recommended by your podiatrist are prescriptive devices, custom-made to suit your individual requirements and biomechanics. A comprehensive service is provided to ensure the safe effective prescription of these orthoses, including:

  • Full assessment prior to any prescription
  • Prescription of the orthoses including the prescription and fitting of relevant devices ensuring they are tailored to each individual
  • A treatment plan that includes footwear advice and exercise prescription
  • Provision of additional treatments as required. This may be through referring on to relevant and trusted health professionals
  • Comprehensive follow up following the fitting of orthoses

  • Skin and toenail care can be performed safely & painlessly using sterilised equipment. Corns and callus occur due to unusually high pressure in specific areas. We approach these common skin problems by looking at the root of the cause, rather than providing a ‘band-aid’ approach. Our aim – to provide a permanent solution, thus providing lasting relief.
  • Ingrown toenails. Both our podiatrists have extensive training and experience dealing with ingrown toenails, known to be gentle, yet proficient. Ingrown toenails may be dealt with conservatively or may need surgical intervention where necessary.
  • Fungal infections of the skin and toenails.
  • Warts
  • Discoloured and/or thickened toenails
  • Bunions
  • Nail procedures are a common and effective procedure for the permanent removal of painful ingrown toenails that do not resolve under conservative care. This is the most common procedure for ingrown toenails and has a very high success rate using ‘phenolisation’ of the nail bed so that it does not regrow.

  • Prior to booking, a pre-surgery assessment is conducted to determine suitability for surgery and discuss the procedure in depth.

  • Nail procedures include a local anaesthetic.

Our Podiatrists are extremely experienced and have performed numerous nail procedures over the years. They are known for their caring, professional natures and skilled approach and attention to detail. Our aim is to return you to your normal activities, pain free.

  • Swift is a revolutionary medical microwave technology that is highly effective at resolving wart, verrucae or papillomas.
  • It has a remarkable 83% success rate. Proven to be the most effective wart treatment available!
  • Fast results
  • Safe & Sterile procedure
  • No dressings
  • No downtime
  • No home after care
  • No anesthetic
  • Able to treat single or multiple warts

What is it?

A focused microwave signal is emitted into the skin to a predetermined depth to ensure only the wart is treated.

A process called Heat Shock occurs within infected skin cells. This causes the wart to release certain proteins into the circulatory system, allowing the immune system to recognise the infection and begin to fight the wart virus (HPV).

Will I feel Anything?

The rapid heating of the wart to 42-45ºC can cause discomfort, however this lasts for only less than a second. This temperature range is merely a few degrees warmer than a hot bath, and will not cause any serious tissue damage or scarring.
